Welcome to my website. Shown here are details of the instruments I make: Harpsichords, Clavichords, and the Clavisimbalum.
Flemish, Italian and early French harpsichords dating prior to c1700 are my particular interest and all my designs are based on drawings of fully documented original instruments. Some minor adjustments are made to compass and disposition in order to accommodate the preferences of individual players. Great care is taken to source and select appropriate materials with particular attention given to constructional refinements ensuring an even touch and responsive action.
There are also details of 18th century German & Viennese style clavichords after Hubert, Hoffmann and Bohak.
The Clavisimbalum is a small late medieval instrument taken from the famous manuscript in the Bibliothèque Nationale Paris drawn by Henri Arnaut de Zwolle c1440. Arnaut's "first and best" mechanism is used and the instrument has proved a success with early music ensemble in Europe.
